Hi all,
Would love to share this new report on Fashion and Degrowth published by Research & Degrowth!
https://degrowth.org/blog/2025/11/10/clothing-the-planet-within-limits/
Some of us were consulted in this process and Fashion Act Now and defashion are mentioned so it's exciting to see the outcome!
Let us know your thoughts!

Hi everyone, I will present the research and findings from my master's project Feminist Fashion Futures: Feminist Perspectives on Degrowth and Commons in Fashion at tonight's monthly member's forum. The project examines what feminist degrowth can teach us about building just and sustainable alternatives to the industrial fashion system.
The report – which I have attached below (please don't share outside this community) – explores how feminist theory, degrowth and the commons can come together to challenge fashion’s extractive and exploitative foundations and gender opression.
During this session we will consider question such as:
•What can defashion learn from feminist degrowth?
•How can commons-based models redistribute care and labour more equally?
•What role can cooperatives play as transitional pathways towards post growth fashion systems?

We'd really appreciate you taking a moment to respond by liking this message or posting an emoji. Thank you so much for participating!!! 🙏🙏😀
Why am I doing this? Last week we sent out a similar message to test who is receiving these posts. Unfortunately, there were only 3 responses, demonstrating something is going wrong. To make sure that wasn't an anomaly, I'm running the experiment again before we consider a rethink how this platform works.
In other news, we did make changes to the platform this week. Forums are now 'groups', as found in the drop down menu on the top right of your screen. Really, they still work like forums but you can join whichever discussion group interests you. I've made everyone part of this 'organising and collaborating' group.
Lastly, it is Wednesday again, which means we'll have our weekly meeting this evening, 6pm UK time, 7pm CEST,…

Hi all,
This is an important experiment. There's now 75 of you using this platform, which is amazing!!! Thank you so much for being here.
But for this to work -- for people to connect -- we need to be sure people are seeing what's posted on the forum.
I have one simple ask: if you can see this message, please can you respond by liking or commenting. This would be very much appreciated. Thank you!!!!!!
Sara

Hi all,
Firstly, a reminder, today is Wednesday so we'll be having our weekly meeting at 6pm BST, 7pm CEST, 1pm ET, 10am PDT and everyone is welcome. Let me know if you need the zoom link. See you there!
Also, we've recently had some new articles on our journal!
Danya Adhalia has written about Unvieling Indonesian Fashion History through Unpublished Archives and her organisation Cipta Garis Temurun.
Sandra Niessen has written about The Beauty of the Bag: the Clothing Loop's community exchange system.
And if you missed the Routledge Handbook of Degrowth's launch event hosted by Fashion Act Now and the Islington Climate Centre, you can read the edited transcript of the conversation between three of its authors here. This is a fascinating dialogue on the relationship between degrowth and defashion.

OC.M members and friends are warmly invited to the Listening for the Echoes symposium, a 2-day, online, free event taking place on 1st & 2nd May.
The Listening for the Echoes: heritage knowledges to shape fashion and design futures online symposium offers a vital space in which to reflect upon a pluriverse of local knowledges and traditions, to gain insights into the ways that humanity has walked (and in some places continues to walk) more lightly on the Earth to create the clothing, products and artefacts that we need, sustainably. These approaches offer a stimulus to learn, dream, experiment and reimagine how, why and for whom we design and make, holding the potential to reconnect us to a natural world and to a distant past whose echoes we must listen for urgently.
Presenters from all over the world will share their research, case studies, projects and calls to action that…
This sounds so great! Unfortunately I need to work tonight so have to send my apologies :(
