Tonight! Monthly Member's Forum: Feminist Fashion Futures
Hi everyone, I will present the research and findings from my master's project Feminist Fashion Futures: Feminist Perspectives on Degrowth and Commons in Fashion at tonight's monthly member's forum. The project examines what feminist degrowth can teach us about building just and sustainable alternatives to the industrial fashion system.
The report – which I have attached below (please don't share outside this community) – explores how feminist theory, degrowth and the commons can come together to challenge fashion’s extractive and exploitative foundations and gender opression.
During this session we will consider question such as:
•What can defashion learn from feminist degrowth?
•How can commons-based models redistribute care and labour more equally?
•What role can cooperatives play as transitional pathways towards post growth fashion systems?
•How can we ensure that degrowth in fashion creates equity rather than reinforcing gendered burdens and global economic disparities?
The presentation will be followed by an open discussion how these insights can inform our ongoing work within FAN and OurCommon.Market. Together, we will reflect on the report’s strategic priorities for integrating feminist principles into degrowth strategies, supporting worker-led cooperatives, and fostering transnational alliances for gender and economic justice.
Hopefully see you tonight on zoom! https://us06web.zoom.us/postattendee?mn=iFe_2-CWsFdjM5dP87LnpQFiA7JHj2NeyW4.MfhNgWbOB3BZIcxF
